Be a Spiegeltent Host!

Are you interested in theatre and performance? Do you take your professional development seriously? Would you like to be part of a dynamic team?

The Canterbury Festival is Kent’s International Arts Festival, the largest festival of arts and culture in the region and one of the most important cultural events in the South East of England. Running between the 19th of October and the 2nd of November, the Festival attracts an audience of around 70,000 people. With nearly two hunderd events in two weeks the programme includes classic music, contemporary dance, comedy, world music, theatre, walks, talks and visual arts.

This is the first year that the Festival will have a Spiegeltent – which literally translates as a ‘Hall of Mirrors’ and originates from Belgium in the 1920s. These highly decorative, travelling dance halls used to tour Europe, providing a stunning environment for music and dance events to take place. Salon Perdu, the Spiegeltent that will visit Canterbury, has toured worldwide including the Sydney International Festival and festivals across Europe.

As Accidental Collective, we are working with the Festival to find brilliant, enthusiastic and capable people to host the Spiegeltent. That basically means Front of House with a difference!

It’s a voluntary position in which you will be trained by a skilled Spiegeltent MC and you will get  a reference from The Canterbury Festival. It’s an amazing opportunity to make a connection with the festival, see loads of great work, meet new people and expand your skill set.
